I'm curious

How exactly is it a bad thing that the first lady is encouraging good health for children? I'm confused. I really don't see why anyone would be upset that our white house has an "agenda" of teaching children to eat better, exercise, and attempt to live in a generally healthier way. The fact that people are complaining that this is our government getting more intrusive really need to get a life, step back, and stop stuffing their fat ass with hoho's and coke.
Oh- btw- I hate paying taxes. I think we all do. But how funny is it that with this being 2010- and the one year that the Bush tax cuts had a complete repeal of estate taxes- that George Steinbrenner dies....meaning that no estate taxes need to be paid by his heir's on the New York Yankees- this could have been 100's of millions of tax revenue to the country in any other year. Hilarious unintended consequences. More proof that big government doesn't work. If you want to cut taxes, do it correctly with a consumption tax instead of income and estate taxes etc....

Random...

Let's see- if you tell your boss bite me, you'd prolly get fired, right?
If you publicly disagree with your boss- you'd prolly lose your job, right?
Agree with him or not- the General must be fired- his boss just happens to be the POTUS, and that means you can't say these things- opinions aside.

It's pretty obvious to everyone that most of the problems with public schools systems involve one of three things, Bad parenting, Government testing, and teachers unions. One of the wonderful things about charter schools- is they are free from unions- meaning the teachers there don't have to join the union. Why isnt this talked about more as a way to fix one of the three major causes of the problems? Get the good teachers out from under the arms of the union- and let them teach.

When a company starts to have problems- they bring in someone who has expertise to help them get through it. It might mean a new marketing strategy, an exit plan, or a reorganization or selling of assets. Why then- do governments continue to discuss amongst themselves how to get their financial house in order? Why on earth do they not bring in some outsiders with financial knowledge, and no connections to people in the city- to basically tell it how it is- and make something happen? Makes too much sense I guess.

Listening to John Kerry on NPR this morning was very disheartening. I know he means good- but come on- tax carbon to make things better? That doesn't actually do anything but redistribute more money. We all know we have an energy problem- and most people would like more renewables. But the fact is- even if we invest in these things- we can't get the power where it needs to go. Let's start by rebuilding the energy grid- from the ground up- as a smart grid, and smart homes, and cutting energy costs where we can through simple things like insulation, conservation, and retooling of old, inefficient power plants. These things we know would help. Let's do- rather then look at theory to something that may or may not work.

Introductory Musings

I've come to realize that opinions matter. Well- some of them do at least. If you've been deemed to be important that is. The problem is that many of those opinions out there are not at all based on facts, experience, or anything else substantive. Sifting between those that are just blabber, and finding something that actually adds to a conversation, takes it to a new level, or redefines it can tend to be a problem. I continue to see many things in life- that may make sense on a level- but once you really start to take a look at it- we get so caught up with the action of doing something correctly- that we never stop to think of whether we should be doing it at all. My goal as I start to put my thoughts down is to search for the truth- on subjects wide and far. I'm not going to limit it to a certain topic, or area of expertise, but to attack all sorts of subjects that just might pop up in my mind. Feel free to ask me something, comment- or request an idea, a thought- or even a rambling....as this is a public thing- which means you are involved.

I tend to have strong opinions on all sorts of topics myself- and rather then just lambaste them into the thin air- I'd like to share them in a way which others could see, hear, and react to.

Rather then define myself politically, socially, or physically- I'd rather define myself based on my thoughts, feelings, and ideals- and let you make up your mind of who, or what I am. I'd like to think of myself as a free thinker- capable of making my own mind up based on facts and events. The fact is that inside of every lie- there is usually some element of truth. Lies are everywhere, you can't avoid them. They key- is finding the truth that lies inside the lies. And that- is our goal.
